'Lock Me Up' - The Cab Review

BY: Meredith Chaffin

After a difficult three year wait, The Cab have finally released their five song EP, Lock Me Up. With the success of their previous album, Symphony Soldier, fans were left wondering if the EP would be worth the wait. However, the EP lives up to the hype.

The EP kicks off with “Lock Me Up,” which is where the EP got its name. This song starts off with a marching beat that carries on throughout the song. With lead singer, Alex DeLeon, singing the verses and group vocals on the chorus, this song was a great way to start the album and get listeners excited for the rest of the EP.

“Moon” is the next song on the EP. This song features classic sensual lyrics that The Cab is known for, such as “I’ll take your body to the moon, then I’ll let you turn it around” and “Baby we don’t need these lights, ‘cause you’ll be seeing stars tonight.” This song has a danceable beat that will be a great song to see performed live.

The third song on Lock Me Up is “Numbers.” This song is one of the slower songs on the EP. It has a bit of an R&B feel to it, which is a sound I wasn’t used to hearing from this band, but I was pleasantly surprised.

“Stand Up” gets right back to the fun and upbeat songs featured on the EP. This song is not only very catchy, but also has a great message. It basically tells listeners to do your own thing and get right back up, when someone knocks you down. Finally, “These Are The Lies” wraps up Lock Me Up. Although this is a slower song, it is my personal favorite. I enjoy how different and raw it is. I could really hear the emotion in Alex DeLeon’s voice throughout the song.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed The Cab’s new EP, Lock Me Up. With a mix of both upbeat and slow songs, there is a song for any mood listeners may be in. I’m excited to see what The Cab has in store for the future!
