Alex Marshall Leaves The Cab

BY: Liza Boodhansingh

Alex Marshall has announced that he has left The Cab to pursue new goals. Read his official statement below.

"Some days I wake up and have to remind myself that this life of mine is a dream. I feel so blessed to have been given all of the opportunities that have come my way in the past 7 years. It has all happened so fast and even as a wide-eyed 17-year-old kid I could not even begin to imagine the experience I would gain, the relationships I would make or the growth I would achieve in such a short amount of time. I was given a chance to do what I love, see the world and meet the most amazing people and I am grateful for that every day. Yet, I believe that what I've accomplished this far is only the first few chapters of my story. There are new doors opening for me and I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn't attempt to pursue them.

Recently, I made the difficult decision to part ways with The Cab and pursue these other career endeavors. This decision was the hardest decision I've ever made and I don't take it lightly. Some of you have been incredibly encouraging and I understand that this may be somewhat of a disappointment to others. Either way, I promise that I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. This is simply the next step in my journey.

Being a part of The Cab has been such an amazing ride, but I have to look at it simply as a transition into this next chapter. I’ve always lived my life in search of new creative expressions and I feel like I’ve progressed as far as I can creatively with The Cab. This change is tough but necessary in order for me to remain dedicated to my vision for the future. This is not an ending by any means. This is only the beginning.

I wish The Cab continued success and I would like to thank all of the fans for the opportunity and experience, love and encouragement you have given me over the years. I hope that I can continue to produce work that you can be proud of because ultimately I do this for you. I look forward to sharing this forthcoming phase of my life with all of you.

-Alex Marshall"

Before You Exit "Dangerous" Music Video

Check out a behind-the-scenes video.

Concert Review: Before You Exit - Dangerous Tour

BY: KC Brown

With their exposure on radio Disney, Before You Exit has recently exploded. It’s no wonder why they are so popular. Their songs are catchy and relatable, filled with upbeat lyrics and melodies. Their most recent tour, The Dangerous Tour, definitely showcases how far the band has come in the past few months.

Spencer Sutherland opens the show with a mix of original songs and popular covers such as "Talk Dirty to Me" and "Royals." He does a good job at opening up the show and getting the crowd ready for what’s to come.

The second opener, Macy Kate, is new to the touring scene but a natural at performing. Her voice is phenomenal, whether she is playing an original song or covering "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. It’s hard to believe that she is only 15 years old.

The final opener is Plug in Stereo. Despite their music being more relaxed and laid back, they seem to fit perfectly into the lineup. While not everyone in the crowd knows all of their songs there is one song in particular that almost everyone sings along to. "Truly, Madly, Deeply" is a well-known One Direction song that lead singer Trevor Dahl helped to write.

Finally, Before You Exit bursts out onto stage, while launching right into their new single, "Dangerous." They play original songs such as "I Like That," "End Of The World" and "Soldier" and mix in a few covers such as "Roar" and "Life Is A Highway." Though the three brothers may be young, they know how to put on a riveting show. After watching them perform, it’s clear why they draw such large crowds and easy to see that they will continue to become more popular in the future.

Album Review: 'Weird Kids' - We Are The In Crowd

BY: Meredith Chaffin

After releasing their first album, Best of Intentions, in 2011, We Are The In Crowd has finally released their anticipated sophomore album, Weird Kids on February 18th. Although Weird Kids was released three years after their first album, We Are The In Crowd proves this album was worth the wait!

Weird Kids kicks off with the empowering ballad, “Long Live The Kids.” I enjoyed this song and its message of never giving up and going after your dreams.

Next up on the album is “The Best Thing (That Never Happened).” This song quickly became one of my favorite We Are The In Crowd songs, when the band released it as a single in December. The catchy beat mixed with bold lyrics create a fun and upbeat song that is sure to be a fan favorite. Another one of my favorites on the album is “Attention.” This song has the signature upbeat sound We Are The In Crowd is known for, along with great lyrics, such as “We’re all just weird kids in the end,” where the album gets its title. This song is a great anthem for everyone who really wants to let their originality shine through. “Remember (To Forget You)” is a song I’m sure we can all relate to. We Are The In Crowd captures the emotion of not being able to move on from someone and constantly having to remind yourself to forget them. I loved how the band combined multiple emotions into one song. Combining emotional lyrics with an energetic beat makes the perfect pick-me-up song for anyone dealing with heartbreak.

“Windows In Heaven” was one of my favorites on this album. In this song, lead singer, Tay Jardine, explains moving on from her father’s passing. She wonders if he would be proud of everything she has accomplished if he could see her now. I enjoyed how I could hear the raw emotion in her voice in this song.

“Reflections,” the final song on Weird Kids, is a great song to wrap up the message of the album. This song is about being yourself and not being afraid to be original. Overall, this album lets kids know that it is okay to march to the beat of your own drum and be yourself because after all, “We’re all just weird kids in the end.”
