Paradise Fears released their new Battle Scars Acoustic EP exclusively on iTunes and Spotify on January 31st. This EP features five songs that were originally featured on their Battle Scars EP, which was released last June. I enjoyed the acoustic version of all the songs. The acoustics gave the songs a very mellow and simplified feel to them. The acoustic version made the songs sound more personal as well. My personal favorite is “Fought for Me.” The song sounded much more emotional and raw. This EP also features a new song by Paradise Fears called “When You Come Home.” I fell in love with this song from the beginning. This song has a calming feel to it, while also being very catchy. You can’t help but bob your head to the acoustic guitar in the song. Also featured on this EP is the “Battle Scars Sonata,” which is a beautiful piano solo by Paradise Fears keyboard player, Michael Walker. The song showed off Michael’s piano skills and gave “Battle Scars” a new soothing sound. The last song on this EP is a cover of “Landslide,” originally performed by Fleetwood Mac. This song quickly became my favorite cover they have done. I absolutely love how lead singer, Sam Miller’s voice fit with the song. I enjoyed how they put their own spin on the song while keeping the emotional appeal of the song. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this EP and would highly recommend the Battle Scars Acoustic EP to anyone looking for a great, relaxing album.
