Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Conflicting Tour Dates

BY: Liza Boodhansingh

From Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!'s Facebook:

Our dearest fans, due to the ADTR tour conflicting with several dates of The Pardon My French Tour, we’re going to have to reschedule dates from 3/19 - 4/5, and we apologize greatly for this. This ADTR tour is a big opportunity for us, and being able to share the stage with such an influential band of ours is an honor. We hope you understand the situation and can forgive us. We think that Handguns, State Champs, City Lights will still continue on with the scheduled dates, we cannot confirm that though. We're sure those bands will make a statement soon. Love, CNCC

Allstar Weekend Indefinite Hiatus

BY: Liza Boodhansingh

From Allstar Weekend's Facebook page:

Hey Guys,

In case you didn't get to see our chat this afternoon, we are writing this to set everything straight, recap, and help anyone who is still confused understand what’s going on.

The upcoming Allstar Weekend tour will be OUR LAST HEADLINING TOUR. On our headlining tour, we play for 75 minutes. We are still doing Warped tour as Allstar Weekend. On that tour, we only play for 30 minutes. After Warped tour, Allstar Weekend will be on an indefinite hiatus.

The three of us, Michael, Cameron, and Zach are starting another band, which will release music completely different and separate from Allstar Weekend. The new album we have been working on will be released as our new project (currently unnamed). We will NOT be playing any Allstar Weekend songs at shows under the new project.

This is something we decided very recently, and we're still getting used to the idea, but it's something we are all really excited about. As we were making this record, the more it became fully realized, the more we realized that this just wasn't an Allstar Weekend record. What we want to do moving forward is not Allstar Weekend. We got signed to Hollywood Records when we were 17 & 18. Now we're 22 & 23! We have evolved as people, musicians, and songwriters. We've changed just like we're sure you guys have changed. We wanted to end this chapter of our careers on a high note!

We are not erasing our past or acting like ASW never existed. We're proud of what we've accomplished. Think of it like switching majors at college or your parents making a career change. It doesn't erase the work, the passion or our connection we had with you when we were doing it. It's simply time to move on to something new.

We decided to share the news with you now because we felt you deserved to know the truth. Just because we are closing this chapter doesn't mean we won't enjoy every minute of our upcoming shows.

We want to thank everyone past and present who has been a part of Allstar Weekend. Whether you are a fan, were a fan, or will continue to support us in the future, thank you for everything. Like I said today in the chat, I've been hesitant to show my appreciation recently because I think a lot of times thanking fans comes off as insincere. I don't want to thank you because I want you like our new music and band, come see us on this last tour, or anything else. I wanna thank you for being a part of Allstar Weekend. Allstar Weekend made us who we are today, and we are so happy you were a part of that. No matter what happens in the future, I think we all did some pretty cool shit together over the years, so thank you for experiencing it with us. We had a great time and are so fortunate that you guys liked us, and Cameron's sexy looks during our shows ;)

See you guys down the road, or not, either way, we love you. Thank you for being a part of something we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

We're very excited about the next chapter.

A Quick Yes or No List:

*Yes, we will release The Mint DVD
*Yes, we will release the Covers EP
*No, you’ll probably never see the video for Hey, Princess!
*Yes, we will release a bunch of old songs and demos
*Yes, we will tour as our new band
*No, we will not play ASW songs on tour under the new project
*Yes, we are still very excited about these last shows
*No, we don’t believe in the Easter Bunny
*Yes, we still love you all
*Yes, Dillon and Brent will still be involved with us in some capacity
*Yes, the new project will have a new youtube, facebook, twitter, etc

Regarding Kickstarter - you will still be sent the new album we have been writing and working on long before we made this decision. IF you decide you no longer want to support us, we will refund the cost of the record. We will be sending a specific email about this to you through Kickstarter.

Love,
Zach, Cameron, and Michael

Album Review: Action Item's Resolution

BY: KC Brown

On the first day of the New Year, New Jersey pop rockers, Action Item, released their new EP entitled “Resolution.”

The EP begins with a slow song called “Where We Left Off” in which Brian Cag sings about touring, the band’s success and saving their fans’ lives. The next song, “Good Or Bad,” also starts out slow but picks up when the chorus comes around. It is a powerful song that discusses how people fall in love too quickly. “Brave” is the next song on this well written EP. You can infer from the title what the song is about. It’s an incredibly uplifting song about finding yourself and being your own person. Continuing on with the upbeat songs, “Better Than Perfect” is the next track. This song describes finding the perfect person who seems too good to be true. “Lucky” is all about seeing the good things in life even though there may be wrong and not letting life pass us by. “Bad For You” is about being infatuated with a girl and doing anything and everything possible to get her. Just as it started, the EP ends with a beautiful slow song entitled “Moments.” Another powerful song about fighting for what you want and what you love.

With meaningful messages and a variety of songs for any mood, “Resolution” is bound to be a huge success. It’s already had success, debuting at number nine on the Billboard Independent chart and number 72 on the Billboard top 200. Well written and put together, the album is sure to please both old and new fans.

The Heavy and Light Tour

BY: Liza Boodhansingh

Melbourne, FL – December 10, 2012 - Non-profit organization To Write Love on Her Arms is taking their flagship annual event, HEAVY AND LIGHT, to cities across America. HEAVY AND LIGHT is a unique evening of songs, conversation, and hope. Throughout the tour, there will be intimate acoustic performances by the likes of Jon Foreman (of Switchfoot) & Fiction Family, Christina Perri, Now, Now, Will Anderson (of Parachute), Aaron Gillespie (of The Almost), Bryce Avary (of The Rocket Summer), Anthony Raneri (of Bayside), Noah Gundersen, The Lone Bellow, Satellite, and award-winning spoken word poet Anis Mojgani. Jon Foreman, both solo and with Fiction Family, as well as Now, Now will be performing on the entire HEAVY AND LIGHT tour, with additional artists playing select cities.

HEAVY AND LIGHT is not a benefit show, but an attempt to move and encourage people through great music and powerful words, to stay alive and to get the help they need. Everyone who attends a HEAVY AND LIGHT show will also leave with a list of local resources—places where they can get help for issues such as depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.

TWLOHA founder Jamie Tworkowski says, "HEAVY AND LIGHT has been our favorite night of the year. Up to now, it's been just one night each January at the House of Blues in Orlando. We've seen people travel from across America and beyond to be there, and we've heard people call it the best night of their life. We're beyond thrilled to bring HEAVY AND LIGHT to cities across the country, and we're doing it with the hope and goal of changing lives."

On the tour’s opening night (January 29), Fiction Family will be releasing their new album, Fiction Family Reunion, in their hometown of San Diego. Jon Foreman states,"The HEAVY AND LIGHT experience has always been an amazing night of music. To bring it to the rest of the country is going to be incredible. I really believe in what TWLOHA does and have supported them since the beginning. I'm honored to join them in the HEAVY AND LIGHT tour across the country."

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. Since its start in 2006, TWLOHA has donated over $1,000,000 directly into treatment and recovery and responded to more than 170,000 messages and emails from more than 100 countries.

Last year, TWLOHA was awarded a $1 million grant at the first American Giving Awards presented by Chase Bank on NBC. They will be using this generous award to fund the nationwide HEAVY AND LIGHT tour.

Tour Review: The Resolution Tour

BY: Liza Boodhansingh

Action Item is on “The Resolution Tour” this winter in support of their new album, “Resolution.” Hello Highway, Before You Exit, and Paradise Fears are along for the ride on this full U.S. tour. The tour began on the East coast. The tour is currently making its way west, and it will swing back around to end in Action Item’s home state of New Jersey in mid-February.
California native, Hello Highway (Daniel Sumstine), opens "The Resolution Tour" with a very upbeat song called “Hope In Tomorrow.” The band Fourth & Coast acts as Daniel’s band. This is Daniel’s first full tour. You can see his passion for the music in every song he plays. The next songs on the set are “One Last Wish” and “Heart Like A Metronome.” Daniel introduces “Heart Like A Metronome” by asking the crowd if they’re ready to get sexy. The set ends with “Timeless,” also the name of his newest EP, and “Break Free.”
Before You Exit, from Orlando, Florida, takes the stage next. Don’t judge this band too soon for their young appearance and passionate fans. They know how to have a good time on the stage. They open their set with “The Best Thing” and “Three Perfect Days.” Next on the list is their mash up of Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” and “Beauty And A Beat”. This mash up seems to be a fan favorite. Before You Exit ends the set with two of their most upbeat songs, “I Like That” and “End of The World.” Both songs involve crowd singing back “na na na na na na na” or “I I I I like that.” If you aren’t dancing at the beginning of the set, then I can guarantee that you will be by the end.
South Dakota natives, Paradise Fears, go on just before Action Item and open with their recently released single, “Warrior”. The band adds an extra drum piece to the stage for Sam and Cole to beat throughout the set. Their next song, “Just A Feeling,” begins to get the crowd dancing. The band slows it down a notch by playing “Yours Truly,” a song which they have never played live before. They continue with “Home,” which is played at a slower pace than the studio recording. The crowd is picked up with a cover of Ke$ha’s “Die Young”. Sam throws down some rhymes in his rap during the 2nd verse to make the song the band’s own. If you have seen Paradise fears live before, then it is no surprise when they end their set with “Sanctuary,” and the whole crowd screams “hallelujah” back to them.
Hailing from Bergen County, NJ, Action Item takes the stage as well-seasoned artists. Action Item sets the stage with a drum intro that merges into “Good or Bad” from their new album. They continue with “Brave,” which is also from “Resolution.” After “Brave,” they pause to ask the crowd who has been with them since “The Stronger The Love.” Brian tells everyone who has purchased "The Stronger The Love" to close their eyes and go back in time to the first time they listened to the album. Action Item proceeds to play “When Everything Falls Back Down,” which is off of “The Stronger the Love.” They mix in some covers such as “Thinking Bout You” by Frank Ocean and “Blackbird” by The Beatles. Along with these covers they perform a mash up of “Home” by Phillip Phillips and their own song “Home.” One of the highlights of the set is towards the end when the band acts as a drum line to introduce “Marching Band.” Sam Miller of Paradise Fears joins Brian Cag during the second verse. They partake in a friendly “sing-off.” Action Item ends their set with “The Scientist” by The Script. Although the crowd is very pleased, they are begging for more. Action Item begins the encore with their story book style song called “Where We Left Off.” The song is a story of Action Item’s journey. The show ends with “Learn To Fly,” which makes everyone get off their feet and dance.

If you haven't been out to the tour yet, you may still have a chance to check it out.  There is still a month left of "The Resolution Tour." Check the dates below to see if the tour is coming to your area!
(The February 16th show will be at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ.)
