Album Review: "Wrong Feels Right EP" - Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time recently released their EP, Wrong Feels Right, on Tuesday, December 3rd. This EP is full of fun pop rock songs that show off Once Upon A Time’s new and improved sound.
The first song on the EP is “Older.” This upbeat song has an infectious beat that is hard not to dance and sing along to. It even features a rap from lead singer, Andrew Long! This song was the perfect way to kick off the EP and get listeners excited.
The second song on the EP is “Wrong Feels Right,” my personal favorite on the EP. This song, which is also the title of the EP, includes catchy drumbeats along with fun lyrics about willing to “steal a cop car” or “rob a bank” for someone because “wrong feels right.” I absolutely fell in love with this song, as I’m sure many fans did as well.
“Original,” the third track on this EP, has a positive message about forgetting the status quo and being original. I really enjoyed this song, which is filled with an upbeat piano beat throughout the song. I appreciated the wonderful message of this song, as well as the pop sound.
Once Upon a Time wraps up this EP with their song, “Forever In Motion.” The band released the music video for this song on November 15th, which shows the recording process of the EP, as well as tour videos from their previous tour with Hello Highway. After first hearing the head-bobbing pop beat of this song, I knew I was going to absolutely love the EP, which I did. I really fell in love with Once Upon a Time’s new sound, and I am very excited to see what is in store for the band in the future.

Album Review: "Seattle Someday"

Pop/rock band Jocelyn recently released their new EP, Seattle Someday on November 19th. Jocelyn definitely had fans excited for this EP, when they released their single “Miss America,” which kicks off the EP. This EP also features four other songs, such as “Good Things Don’t Come To Those Who Wait,” which sends a positive message about not holding back and doing what you want with your life, and “Say It To Me,” a song that starts off as a beautiful ballad with piano and quickly builds to an upbeat, pop/rock song. All of the songs on this EP are filled with Jocelyn’s signature catchy, pop/rock sound that fans love. It’s hard not to fall in love with Seattle Someday after hearing the excellent songs on this album.

Album Review: "Battle Scars Extended Fan Edition" - Paradise Fears

In October, Paradise Fears announced that they were giving fans the chance to order a deluxe version of their EP, Battle Scars. Battle Scars Extended Fan Edition includes the original eight songs on Battle Scars plus five other songs for fans to enjoy, which include “Sanctuary,” “Who You Are,” and three never before heard songs.
Although “Who You Are” and “Sanctuary” were both released on iTunes as singles, I was happy to see them on the EP. “Sanctuary,” which was released in May of last year, has become an iconic Paradise Fears song. From the powerful verses to the uplifting spoken word, it’s clear why fans are drawn to this particular song. “Who You Are” is another uplifting song from this band. I absolutely love the story this song tells. It is definitely one of my favorite Paradise Fears songs, both musically and lyrically.
The three new songs featured on this CD are “Real to Me,” “What If,” and “Almost Doesn’t Count.” “Real to Me” is the first of the new songs on this album, and I immediately fell in love with it. It fits in well with the new sound Paradise Fears has been going for. It has some pop influences that I could also hear in “Lullaby,” which is also featured on this EP. However, I had a different reaction when listening to “What If.” When I first heard this song, I was a bit unsure of how I felt about it. This song features trumpets and drum solos that are not very common for Paradise Fears. However, I really grew to love this song. It is a very fun, upbeat song that is hard to listen to without singing and dancing along to the music. “Almost Doesn’t Count” is the last of the never before heard songs on this EP. This song is one of my favorites on the entire EP. This song has a powerful chorus, a bit of dubstep, and an amazing rap by lead singer, Sam Miller.
Overall, I was very impressed with the deluxe version of the Battle Scars Extended Fan Edition EP. I was very happy with the new songs featured on this EP and I look forward to what Paradise Fears has in store for the future.

Ian Keaggy Leaves Hot Chelle Rae

Ian Keaggy, bassist of Hot Chelle Rae, has announced that he will be leaving the band. Read the official statement from the band below.
"Dear Hot Chelle Rae Fans,
Today is very bittersweet for Hot Chelle Rae. After spending the last six years working like crazy, and putting in more work than you can ever know, our friend and bass player Ian Keaggy has decided to leave the band in order to pursue some of his other passions. We've taken HCR from a barn, to traveling the world, to where we are today … and couldn't have done it without him. Being in this band is more than a full time job, and knowing how talented Ian is in MANY fields, we wish nothing but the best for him as he spends time on some of the things he's sacrificed in order to be part of HCR.
So today begins a new chapter for Hot Chelle Rae and we want to be clear in saying that we are in NO way slowing down. Quite the opposite. We are working day and night to finish our new album which we will launch with it’s first official single in early 2014 to be followed by the full album shortly thereafter.
In the meantime, we have an exclusive gift for our fans. Later today, we'll be releasing a new video for a song from the upcoming album. The song is called “Recklessly” and the video features a collection of footage from our travels around the world including our tour last summer with Justin Bieber and our Japanese tour in August. We've received an incredible response from our fans for this song and felt like this video was the perfect way to look back, reflect and say thank you to all of you for always sticking by us as we move forward.
