Twenty One Pilots brought their Quiet Is Violent Tour to the Tower Theater on September 28, 2014. This was the duo's second night performing at the Tower Theater. The second date was added after the first date sold out.
Vinyl Theatre, Milwaukee based Indie-electronic band, opened the show. Vinyl Theatre are young band, only formed in 2012, but they appear to have much more experience. With catchy songs and an electric stage presence, the high energy of their set pumped up the crowd for the shows main act.
Entering into the fog and darkness, Twenty One Pilots, dressed in all black took the stage, and began the night with "Guns for Hands." After the song, a British voice was heard. Singer Tyler Joseph introduced the voice named Nigel. Throughout the show, Nigel and Tyler bantered with each other, amusing the audience.
Twenty One Pilots performed all of their songs on Vessel as well as a few old favorites, such as "Addict with a Pen" and "Fall Away." Encouraged by Nigel, Tyler covered a few songs on the ukulele, including "Drunk in Love" by Beyoncé, which was said to be Nigel's wedding song.
One of the most unique parts of the Twenty One pilots show happened when drummer Josh Dun took his drum set to the crowd and played on top of the fans during "Semi-Automatic."
After playing "Fake You Out" and a partial cover of "Summertime Sadness" by Lana Del Rey, Tyler and Josh exited the stage. Within no time, the duo ran back on stage for a three song encore. Twenty One Pilots ended the night with "Car Radio," Truce" and "Trees." During "Trees," Josh and Tyler beat drums, while standing over the audience and huge bursts of confetti filled the room.
